RYAN CRAWFORD
Whittier College, B.A., Business Administration (minor in Spanish)
While at Whittier, Ryan focused on Spanish, playing baseball, and coaching youth baseball. After graduating, Ryan spent seven months in northeastern Thailand, teaching English to Thai high school students, traveling, and immersing himself in Thai language and culture. While in Thailand, Ryan traveled to the surrounding countries of Laos and Cambodia, and spent time with secluded hill tribes. Ryan spent two years exploring the wilderness of California’s Sierra Nevada and spends his spare time exploring northern California’s mountains and coast. In May, Ryan received his certificate of study in Environmental and Natural Resources Planning from Humboldt State University. Ryan is proficient in Thai and Spanish, and has led Putney’s Cultural Exploration Thailand program.
ANSLEY RUBINSTEIN
Harvard University, B.A., Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, B.A., Arabic Literature
While at Harvard, Ansley focused on modern Arabic literature and spent time in Jordan and Egypt. She spent three summers writing for the internationally-published travel guide, Let’s Go, traveling to Australia, Greece, Austria, and Germany to explore both cosmopolitan cities and remote islands. Ansley has spent time in India, South Africa, and Argentina studying urban issues around the world. She has taught dance classes at an orphanage in Peru and performed in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Most recently, she traveled to Thailand and completed her scuba certification. She has previously led programs for high school students in the United Kingdom, and is currently working as a personal tutor for middle and high school students as well as blogging for Time Out Los Angeles and performing as an actress and dancer. Ansley has led Putney’s Cultural Exploration Australia, New Zealand, & Fiji and Middle School Costa Rica programs. She is proficient in Arabic and Spanish.
